O, ye of little faith!

i was taking notes in history the other day and i came across something.  ”human nature can be molded” (the notes are from a power point on enlightenment) and i disagree.  human nature cant be molded.  thats just how you are, and it doesnt change.  fall out boy said it best: “seasons change but people dont”.  people themselves dont change, just how you view them. Enlightenment says that people are naturally good and that they are born with a blank slate and turn good or bad based on decisions and experience.  (obviously they never met an evil baby.)  again i disagree.  i have to side with Thomas Hobbes on this one.  we are born bad.  it is our choices and environnment that decide our goodness.  but as a species we are not naturally good.  Humans are malicious.  maybe we werent always this way, but we are now.  also: Rousseau said that trying to be civilized and do what is expected makes us un-individualistic.  we used to be solitary, good, and free.  native americans were like this, but something changed.  ”Civilized man is an aleinated man” and it is so true.  i <3 jean-jaques Rousseau

also a while ago, Emilie posted a tweet “paths are for people who dont know where theyre going” i adore it.  its so completly true. i thought you should know the brilliance that is her.

as you can see, i have no faith in the nature of humanity.  we are so screwed.
